Hello TonyD and Pauline,
It should be a relief to be able to get an important medication without too much difficulty in this emergency situation.

Please remember that you need fairly regular blood testing while taking Warfarin.
I believe that you could avail of blood tests at some pharmacies in Spain. Not sure what arrangements are currently in place.

Hi Maria
I no longer take warfarin as my Dr was concerned my repeat prescriptions were not being managed to my needs (ie through extending stays in Spain) and she rang me to check I was still taking them. I was so surprised they were being monitored and at time was actually here in Spain. I too had pretty stable INR,s and didnt get any chemist tests whilst here, so she changed me to a newer type Rivaroxaban which I,ve been on 2 years now. Have to admit I was worried about all the negative publicity regarding these newer anticoagulants but she told me that they had improved more recently and not having to have blood tests have been a bonus. Suits my lifestyle completely. I havent had to buy these so this visit might see me doing just that. Have to wait and see as I have enough till mid June.
Regards
Pauline.
