Hi Jon,

We fell in love with this area years ago but did purchase a villa in Benissa just ahead of Brexit.

We used various agents but were happiest with Anthony and Sally at Spanish Property Sales as they were incredibly friendly and professional and didn’t pressure us at anytime. They also introduced us to a great solicitor, Juan at Romeu, and many areas of interest that we hadn’t discovered.

We had a fabulous walk and picnic in the Jalon Valley today and the weather was fantastic.

We will not be seeking residency until I have a better grasp of the tax implications. We have looked into getting a golden visa as a non eu resident which you may be able to apply for depending on what you intend to spend on a property.

Good luck with your search and don’t hesitate to contact me if you need any further input.

Hi Helen,

have just been in touch with Sally at Spanish Property Sales and it seems they have an interesting business model in that they are not actual agents and deal with a variety of agents to locate a property for a purchaser. They also seem very efficient. I have to say this would seem to take some of the aggro out of dealing with a range of agents. I would be interested to hear from anyone else that has dealt with them.

Jon

Hi Jon

We have just purchased in Benitachell with Hamiltons and felt they were very helpful. We are not ready to retire for another 5 years so not sure whether we’ll be able to move over permanently due to Brexit which is sad for us but still decided to go ahead as we love this area and as a previous person said you’re a long time dead! Good luck with your plans for the future

Hi Diane

I have been following these conversations with interest. We are hoping to retire to the Moraira area and are coming out on 1st Feb for 3.5 weeks to view properties.

Is there any advice about living in Benitachell that you can give us. We are viewing a property there but don't really know much about that particular area. We like the Benissa area...Buenavista, San Jaime, Benimeit because of the proximity to amenities etc but feel we need to explore every avenue before we make the final decision.

Any advice would be most welcome.

I look forward to hearing from you.

Thank you

Amanda

Hi Amanda

To be honest I’m new to this too but went on my gut instinct! I’ve always loved the area but I didn’t want to be in the heart of things but wanted a reasonable amount of amenities around me. We are 10 mins from Javea which has everything there and 15 mins from Moraira and that too has everything there! On our complex we have to restaurants and a supermarket and have the most amazing view of the ocean from our house but can still walk to the beach. We put down bullet points of what our requirements were and then the max price range (bearing in mind you need to add 13% on top for fees) and then trawled the internet for properties we then had to compromise on what we wanted most i.e. views over 2 bathrooms etc. Also remember it’s a buyers market we went in 23k under the asking price which was refused but went up slightly with each offer and bagged a bargain! Good luck

Hi Diane

Thank you for your response, it's much appreciated. I have a feeling we will go by gut instinct too.

At this time we are viewing 12 properties spread across the area of Moraira. Very excited and nervous at the same time.

Regards

Amanda

Thanks Diane,

We have regularly stayed in the Alcasar area which I think is sometimes considered Benitachell. We like it there and enjoy the stroll down into Moraira along the back road. Not sure how we will manage that as we get older though (particularly if we need to go up over the hill first!) so are also looking at places closer to a few more amenities.

Fantastic sea views sounds like you might be in Cumbre?

Regards

Jon

Yes we are which is fine at the moment while we’re relatively fit but who knows what the future brings but we’ll cross that bridge when we come to it

That’s exactly how we described it especially as we were using our life savings but hey life’s a gamble and there’s no pockets in coffins so we decided to do what makes us happy!

Hi Sara

We are meeting with Ana tomorrow to view a handful of properties. She has been excellent so far with communication via email.

Looking forward to meeting her and excited about finding out dream home.
