Hi there

Can anybody please help us with how we change the name of the bill holder please for our water supplier hidraqua ? We have recently purchased our villa and need to change the names over  .

We have received the forms from the company and the town hall to change the names, and understand we have to provide our NIE , our deeds and forms from the town hall which we are trying to translate , but someone mentioned we have to have an architect to come and inspect the house / pipes ?

Can anyone please advise us what is involved and would we better to ask a solicitor to deal with this ? Is it a complicated process or something we can do ourselves ?

The forms are in Spanish which I am trying to translate .

Many thanks in advance xx

Hi had exactly the same thing, you need a habitation cert that the vendors should have provided, we have been paying the bill in the previous name by going to the office. In our case we cannot set up a direct debit, because the hidragua will not change account over without said cert. We have quote for around 120€ to get cert from town halls architect. I think many agents are not disclosing this accurately.

Hi or you could go in and change the bank details, if you have the name of the previous owners or an account number or both then yes it is still in their name but your bank if you don't want to shell out for a habitation cert.

Just thought I would update with a post on this topic

It seems Hidraqua dropped the requirement for a licencia de segunda ocupación in 2020 for a change of name of account holder.

If you have ID details of the old account holder you can try using this link:

https://www.hidraqua.es/cambio-titular

Otherwise you, (at least during COVID),   request a phone call and they call you back to process with you using contract number and name of old contract holder. They then send you an email requiring printing out of a couple of forms. Then you scan the forms back  signed on each page with a scan iof your passport and NIE or TIE, also a scan of most of the escritura showing your name as owner.

Anyway if like me you have been paying for 5 years in the name of someone else you can now fix it without cost. At least I understood there would be no cost, We will see when the next bill turns up.

Hi dac perhaps you will be kind enough to let us know if the name change went through free of charge when you’ve received your next bill?

Regards Anne

We must have missed that window, had to get certificate 120   euro then take to town hall get papers from them 100 odd euro then take to hidra aqua for change of name, that was fab 2020 approx.

My lawyers did is as part of the purchase. I think that's a reasonable expectation for what they are paid!
