Advice for car hire/buy storage

For 20 years I endured the stresses of the thieves at the airports, you just don't need it.

Eventually I bought a reliable runaround, from landing to driving my own car away from the airport is 30 mins, I should have taken the plunge much earlier.

Annual airport parking is €250, insurance is €290 fully comp with the added bonus of anyone over 25 can drive your car. ITV is €135 if someone does it for you whilst you are in the UK.

Excluding the initial purchase, the above costs are going to be cheaper than 12 hires per year but to be honest I don't care about the financials, ownership and not having to hire wins hands down for me.

PS I should also mention that used cars are much more expensive in Spain than the UK but once that's done you are flying.

      I'd agree with Ken, especially if you are spending nearly 2000euro a year for car rental (160x12). 

 Ken has been a little light on the costs, you have annual road tax plus servicing,repairs, replacement parts (tyres, etc) to consider, though on average this has been less than 400euro annually for me over the nearly 6 years I've owned a car in Spain. Around 1000euro per annum, so still considerably less than hiring.

 There are a number of posts on here recommending where to buy a second hand car, so take a look and get an idea of cost.
