Excerpt from the Guardian today:

Will this mean UK citizens living abroad and from amber-list countries won’t be able to skip quarantine?

Yes, and this is likely to cause a significant backlash especially from Britons who live abroad and have been vaccinated in countries such as France, Spain or the US. Currently the UK is only accepting the NHS certification as proof of vaccination

Yep, there are a couple of threads already running on the same subject.  I haven't seen my 92 year old father for 21 months and had been looking at flights for his birthday in August 😔

As I said in another thread, we should all write to our constituency MP in the UK; those who no longer have property in the UK should write to the MP of the last constituency they lived in.

I doubt it's any coincidence that this change has been enacted just before BoJo and his clowns are going on their summer hols.  Afterall, why else would entry requirements to the UK be aligned the same for Green AND Amber countries?! 🤨

Kind regards,

Kim

Hi Kim,

I hope you get to see your father soon. There is nothing to stop travel to the UK (England) from Spain but at the moment the requirement to self isolate for a minimum of 5 days (with a successful test to release) is still the requirement for most ex-pats. The only difference for English people travelling back is that they do not have to quarantine and they can take one less test than non-English arrivals. I do believe this will change soon.

Note, I say England?English, as you may know the other devolved parliaments have not eased their entry restrictions yet, though they may follow the UK Gov lead soon.

Hi Aitch,

That article is dated 9 August 2020, so I think the weekend trip it references was for last summer.

When a Sky reporter asked BoJo this week about his proposed holiday to Mustique, he didn't deny it 😉

Kind regards,

Kim

The beauty of google, I had seen a recent comment by Boris during a parliamentary session this week that he was keen to get back to Scotland. When I googled it the first report that came up was from the DM, decided that would not be a good one to post so went with the second report from a Scottish paper, but I did not notice the date change!

Whether the Scots are as keen for him to visit is debatable.
