It appears that Spain has now decided to vaccinate the 65-69 year-olds with the AZ. As I am 69, it maybe I will have to go to Torrevieja when I am called. Do you have the address of where they are doing these jabs please? Thanks

I think they will make their minds up soon. My partner 63 had his last week and I knew I would have to wait as I'm 69, now they're doing 69 yrs. I'm losing faith with them and starting to think they just have loads left so throw 65 upwards into the mix lol

I'm starting to think they are making this up on a daily basis, there does not seem to be a cohesive plan of action.

Hi Tricia,

I still don't understand why they thought AZ was high risk to the older age groups, when early reports showed that those most affected were twice as many women than men, and especially those women who are on the contraceptive pill or HRT.  Even in the relatively very small number of people who have experienced blood clots, they have been caused by a rare antibody reaction, resulting in unusual clots with low blood platelets.  As you're 69, you may well be offered the Janssen (Johnson & Johnson) single-dose vaccine, which is being rolled out in Spain from next week, or even the Moderna or Pfizer vaccines.  Those of us who are 64 and below probably have no choice other than AZ - not that I mind that.

Ultimately, I think the world will end up with probably 10 or so very effective vaccines, with slight differences that make them more or less suitable for certain age groups/genders, and we'll all be vaccinated according to which is most suitable for each individual.  They manage to tweak the 'flu vaccine every year, to respond to its mutations, so I'm sure they'll become as proficient with the Covid-19 vaccine in time.

Kind regards,

Kim

Thanks for the link to the statistics in this topic.  I was wondering if there was anywhere I could find out about the vaccinations in the Benidorm area?  The last I heard was that Alicante was the nearest place with the possibility of opening other centres in the region.  Can anyone help me with this please?  Thanks
