Can anybody confirm for definitely that Murcia airport will close on the 15th January  I have booked flights for 26th January, with Ryanair but they won't confirm that they are stopping flighing from that date, I've done online chat with Ryanair customer service, they said they will let me know when they receive the information,?but can't understand why Ryanair are still selling flights to Murcia well after the closure date.

I live very close to the "new" airport and follow the whole story (better nightmare) for many years. The actual airport San Javier is said to be closed for commercial flights as from Jan.15, 2019. Traffic will be transferred to new installations "Corvera" which could have started operations in 2012. Since then so many "inaugurations" were announced and called off, I seriously doubt that this airport will ever start services. And if it does, I'm afraid not for long. Most of (us) permanent residents use Alicante offering better connections.

The official name is now Aeropuerto Internacional de la Región de Murcia, with IATA code RMU, but it hasn't yet been added to AENA's website.
