Up till a couple of months no appointment was needed when applying for an N.I.E. number at the Spanish Consulate in London,now you have to make an appointment.As JIM kindly states if you go to their website you can make an appointment any day onwards with 15 minute time slots.Making an appointment would be advisable.

Hi I agree with those who advice London Spanish embassy . We went on Monday this week, I had done some forms wrong but the nice lady re-did them. It costs £8.90 each and whole thing look about 12 mins. Even the coach from Birmingham to London was only £32

I agree so easy and a lot cheaper! We also did a question wrong and she just changed it for us. We got ours about 8 weeks ago and it was come and queue service but now it seems they are doing appointment times. We found the service very good.
