Thanks Steve. I did put in the complete year in DOB, but just 04/16 for issue. I’ll try 2016 👍

Yes, it worked. It says I have been waiting 189 days. 80% of previous patients waited ‘menos 216 Dias’

So at least I can see I am still in the system. Thank you very much. 😎

Makes no difference on the card colour. My wife's is red and mine is green but both work.

And you must put the date (especially the year) in the correct format. On my green one it is 4 numbers for the date of birth (as in 1960) but only two numbers for the issue date (as in 12).

You also have to enter the day and month in 2 figure format so if 9 Jan 1960 then it goes in as 09 01 1960. The issue date is 2 figs for both as in 03 15 for March 2015.

As said, you have to put the random letters in the box and then see if the phone number is correct. You will then get an SMS number on your phone to enter.

I just got it to work, after Steve’s reply. I did not need an SMS, and didn’t see my phone number. Perhaps I should also click on Inició? As the page told me I was in the system, I didn’t’ go any further. Thanks 😎

That's great Sheila😇

BTW - my wife had a 2nd cataract operation about a year ago.

She also waited for quite some time, having been told that the expected waiting time was around 6 months.

At 6 months exactly, we took a phone call with an offer to go to a private hospital instead (for free) in Elche. We opted to wait for Torrevieja, since my wife didn't consider it urgent. Just 2 days later she received an appointment for Torrevieja! I can only guess that other people went to Elche, opening up slots at Torrevieja.

Cheers

Steve

Thanks Steve. I am waiting for both to be done, and saw the anaesthetist early September. My eyes are very bad, but I couldn’t go to Elche. I’m glad you warned me. Fingers crossed I hear soon. 😎

Since some shake ups at Torrevieja hospital, some things seem to be slipping under the radar and being missed. My wife also had both cataracts done last year but we waited almost 9 months before going into the hospital. Although she was on the GVA app there was no indication of when she would be called forward.

We went to the hospital reception and they sent us to the other reception by the cafe. A lady came out, took the SIP card and went away for about 10 minutes. She then came back with a date for the first one to be done the following week. All went well and we were told there was a waiting time of 3 months between procedures and, virtually 3 months to the day, she had an appointment for the second.

I don't know what went wrong but I'm still of the opinion she would still be waiting if we hadn't gone in to chase it up.

Reading posts from others and it appears that quite a few have had to physically go in and chase up appointments for various procedures which are then done quite quickly.

Hi Marcliff and others.

My experience is that when a hospital consultant refers you on, the onus is on the patient to talk to the downstairs desk at the hospital  to actually get a date/time.

I've learned this the hard way!

BTW- there are at least 3 desks that can be considered reception at the hospital - downstairs seems to be the most comprehensive

Cheers

Steve

I think I will go to the downstairs reception. I know this can work. Thanks both of you for your advice. Much appreciated 😎

Hello Marcliff, I wonder if you could tell me where the small reception desk actually is? I only know the main one downstairs in Outpatients. I have been waiting for my second cataract op. The first one was on 11th January, after waiting since May last year. I did go to the main reception last month, but they said the wait for the second op is shorter. No call yet though, so it is almost a year since requested by the ophthalmologist. I read of a desk next to the cafe, but have no idea where that is or opening times. I feel that they need a nudge! Thanks 😎

Hi Sheila

Before you enter Outpatients, look right and you will see a flight of stairs. Go down them and you will see the cafe, with reception just to the right of it.

Cheers

Steve

Yes, those directions Steve gave you are correct. If you are little disorientated, then you know where the main reception is downstairs. If you go down the corridor to the right of that that will bring you out to the hospital reception area which is manned 24 hours. It's the entrance you take if you have a very early appointment with something like ICSU and the main hospital doors are not yet open.

When my wife had a gall bladder operation we had to turn up at 0715 and the main doors were closed but the other way was open.
