Hi everyone, we are moving to Costa Blanca later this year and we would like some suggestions on where to live please. We have two boys aged 4 and 5 so would like somewhere with good state schools most importantly, would also like somewhere near the coast, not too quiet and near an expat community. We are coming out in June for 10 days and was thinking of staying near Alicante city then we can do a recce, north and south. Any suggestions would be much appreciated, thanks guys!

We are in the Torreblanca area of Torrevieja, close to La Mata beach. There are schools close by for all ages and they have even built a Catholic Church in the past few years. The spanish police close the road off every afternoon when the children finish school for safety reasons...Very impressive. We think we are doing well when we have a lolly pop man or lady helping children across the road at home!   I cannot give you information about the south of Torrevieja area eg.Playa Flamenca regarding schools but imagine there are many good schools available there too. In our area, there appears to be several schools all in the one location..from nursery to technical college stages and several huge sports stadiums too. North of Torrevieja is serviced by several lovely beaches and closer to town, there are some child friendly beaches too and mostly within walking distance.  On the other side of town, you will mostly have to cross the busy N332 to access the coast but you will find some lovely areas when you do.

Have you considered La Marina ? It seems to be very much an ex pat area and isn’t far from the beach, there are bound to be schools suitable for your children there and as far as I know, the cost of properties seem to be better value and more affordable than Torrevieja.

Hopefully, somebody with children will be better equipped to give advice and will do so soon.

Good luck with your quest.

Hi,

We have a place in el presidente, villa martin and love it, although we dont live there yet.

If I was thinking of moving out to live I would rent for a few months first, just to make sure you like the neighburhood/neighbours etc.,

Hi Debra, I would recommnd Torre de la Horadada. It is well established with all one needs. It is also near to the main town of Pilar de la Horadada where you will find the schools. However where ever you consider please take your time. It is a big decision and one not to take without going into it fully. With that in mind I would recommnd renting for maybe three months to give you time to find what you are looking for. Plus when you do come over get to know some people who have lived here for some time. If I can be of any further help please dont hesitate to ask.

Thank you to you all for your helpful advice. It gives us some more ideas of where to look when we come over for a visit.

Hello

It very much depends on what you are looking for. If you want to be in an area that’s quiet, vet Spanish etc then you need to head to the northern costa Blanca and the Denia area. Slightly up market, traditionally Spanish and so much less frenetic then this is the place to be. Listed as one of the top 50 destinations in the world for food, plus in the top ten healthiest places for Europe what more can you ask. You won’t regret moving here!!

Thank you, are there many expats in Denia and would you have any recommendations for schools?
