First post on this lovely little forum so apolgies if I'm doing the wrong thing....

Hello evreyone from Tom

My question is this.......We are coming on holiday to the orihuela area for a whole month last two weeks in August. The wife now cannot walk very far and I was wondering about how to choose the best beach to go to bearing the above in mind. She is not disabled, just can't walk very far at all. I'm hoping I can get an answer regarding parking atc. etc.

Thanks etc

Tom

In August you will probably have to drop her off close to the beach then go and find somewhere to park. It's usually very busy around the beaches but you can find parking in the street if you drive round the side streets near say, La Zenia beach.

Mil Palmeras beach has a couple of car parks and street parking. There is also a good spot at the end of the nearest car park to the beach for dropping someone off, whilst you find a spot to park on the street.

There are also toilets and a lovely beach cafe at this beach. A short walk and there is a street that is lined with restaurants and shops. Sunbeds for hire are also available

If you get to the car park early (around 9am) you will have no problem parking on the car park nearest to the beach

Not only is parking a nightmare near the beaches but the volume of traffic is horrendous. Takes twice as long to get from A - B Sometimes it’s easier to find parking between 5-6pm and you can still spend a good few hours on the beach even at that time. But if you’re unlucky you may have to park anything up to a 20 minute walk away which in the August heat is not a pleasant walk for anyone.

Just be careful of blue parking bays  at some beaches as they are chargeable at that time of year.

Hi Tom

As others have said, parking can be tricky.

However, one option might be to park near a bus stop and then take the bus to the beach at Campoamor (Playa de la Glea) - the stop is very nearly on the beach!

Moncayo Beach opposite the end of the Lemon Tree Road near Guadamar has a car park for hundreds of cars, always spaces.
