Hi, Spencer I cannot answer your original query but if you have a carte vital you should be able to get a French EHIC card.

Just go on line and request one. I would have thought that you have 6 months cover in France or until such time you are officially resident in Spain.

Just a thought

Paul

Hi Spencer,

I cannot begin to tell you how sorry I am that you unwittingly found yourself in this ghastly situation.  Try to get your EHIC organised online and it all fruit fails, you will have to get back to France in order to get the treatment you need.

I would probably follow the suggestion of going to your local hospital’s emergency department and implore upon them to help you.

It isn’t an ideal situation to find yourself in.  The guidelines here in the UK for anyone who must visit a hospital are...

your arms must be bare from your elbows down.

The only jewellery permitted is a flat ring eg wedding ring.

By doing this, you can cleanse yourself rather than possibly having infection on your clothing.

Please keep us updated. I wish you all the best.

Hello.

You can request and download the EHIC instantly from the Ameli website as well as see all our current rights.

https://www.ameli.fr/

assuming your French health registration is still valid.

this may also be of some help (its linked to my region in France but you can change on the web page to your last French location)

https://www.ameli.fr/haute-saone/assure/droits-demarches/europe-international/protection-sociale-etranger/retraite-etranger

Hope that is of some help

Paul

Hi

Thanks for the information. The situation is rediculous. I appreciate the Spanish police are trying to reduce their risks, but like our NHS they have public service to supply. The decision to stop signing off on NIE is depriving me and others of Spanish health care along with registering a bank account, they have simply not thought this situation through.

Kind Regards

Spencer
