Hi Guys

Can anyone recommend a bank to take our Direct debits, We are using Sabadell at the moment, but having problems with their app,and when we need to speak to them, the English speaking lady at the bank is difficult to reach, ideally a bank we can pay direct from our English account, or a bank that is easier to transfer, thank you in advance.

Hello Lee, have you considered currencies direct or a similar company. You simply transfer you English money to their English bank account and it arrives to their Spanish account, they can transfer it directly to your sabadell account or they can hold it in there account till the exchange rate changes for the better. Bank charges can be ridiculous when transferring funds. Its just an idea for you to explore. It is also done very quickly.

Paul.

Hi, I use 'WISE'. You have an account in British pounds and an account in Euro's and you can easily transfer between the 2 with some of the best transfer rates you will get.

The Euro account has a Belgian IBAN number which you can use to pay all your direct debits in Spain. I pay my Electricity, SUMA, water, internet, house insurance and car insuarnce using my Euro WISE account.

Anymore question's just ask.

Hi Paul

We use currency direct at the moment, and they transfer it to sabadell, but we have problems trying to contact sabadell, and use their app,is there a way we can pay directly from our English account, directly to our energy, water and various suppliers.

Regards

Lee

StanLady. Wise is an online bank which is registered in the UK and the EU. It takes roughly 5 minutes to set up your account. As well as a stirling account you can access accounts in over 60 foreign currencies. The rate they give for exchange from sterling to euros is very competitive. The bank is registered in the EU (Belgium) so it is illegal for any European entity to refuse to accept payment from them. There is no charge for DD’s and the annual charge for a debit card is £6. Unlike Spanish banks there is no requirement to transfer a set monthly amount to your account or purchase various expensive insurance products from them. I use them and, unlike Spanish banks, I have encountered no problems with them over the last 4 years.

Thank you for your advice, we are out there next week and speak to our friends and neighbours, but it looks like we will be changing to wise banking.

Thanks again

Kind regards
