Hi Rod,

There are too many variables for anyone on here, I think, to give you an accurate answer, so I'd recommend you contact Leigh at:

https://www.spanish-number-plates.com/

They can give you a quote for re-registration in Spain, which may include things like changing your headlights, and the ITV.  We used them for my husband's car, having seen many good reviews on this forum.

I don't know whether it's still applicable post Brexit, but it used to be that if you re-registered within a certain period of moving to Spain (3 months, I think), you can avoid import tax.

Kind regards,

Kim

I have a Zafira 2011  RHD put on Spanish plates 18 months ago total 1200 euros

Front lights need changed to european compliance /rear fog light moved to other side/import tax and admin fees all added up to 1200 euros

Hope this helps

I used Seguro parking at Alicante Airport to transfer to Spanish plates whom take care of my parking uplifts and drop off the car at Alicante Airport

They are quite expensive but got the job done with no problems or drama

I have heard off and witnessed some horror stories on people paying fees and Not getting the plates transferred & the job done make sure you get the full amount and a proper all inclusive estimate with NO variables

All the best

You can save a bunch by: 1. obtain front and rear optical assemblies (used from any opel zafira, cheap at any car dump) and replace the existing ones. 2, drive in any ITV and render COC and actual permit to get a "certificado de caracteristicas tecnicas". 3. pay register taxes 4. pay council taxes 5. take all the paperwork to Trafico and get your Spanish register assigned 6 emboss license plates and off you go (don't forget to cover insurance).
