I am not surprised about the uncaring, appauling disregard & the ignorance of the action (or lack of) carried out by "Caixa", but, this make my starting the post very crucial; to those who need advice to negotiate the minefield of "Pensioner" plight, by a system of banking that is not able an...

...d or willing to address the failings of our contribution to the "Spanish economy" and the "directors/CEO/shareholders" bonuses and dividends. In short they are taking advantage of our good nature and treating their customers with such distain and disregard that the only course of action is to look to those organisations that value their customers, it looks like "Wise" will be getting a call from me very soon.
Can one of you who has got a wise account please post the "Wise" contact details for all wishing to make a change.
Thanks you all for your contributions to this post, it has been an eye opener to a very important issue.
I hope that the "banking industry in Spain" gets site of these posting, take note, stock and implement the long overdue changes for their customers.

You're confusing me a little.....
It's the UK government that transfers the UK pensions (into a Sabadell account) not Sabadell, so I get the full interbank exchange rate to transfer money. Its not transferred by Sabadell. If you ask banks to transfer money then you will get charged heavily. Sabadell do not charge any fee to have ...

I can confirm what Joan48 says. When I asked my Sabadell account adviser last year about having my state pension paid directly into my account, she told me I would then get free banking, but they would charge me a 17 euro transaction fee every time the pension went in.

The only problem with having your pension paid directly to Sabadell is that they don’t give you a good exchange rate. I leave mine until the rate is good then transfer this myself via Wise.

I now use Magna Finance to transfer £ to €, they give me almost the live rate( few cents less) and do not charge any xfr fees.
Cheers

When I started receiving my UK state pension, I went into my branch and pointed out to them that their own terms and conditions for that account stated that no fees would be charged if one's state pension was paid directly into the account. They immediately dropped the fee and I haven't paid one ...

Does it have to be a state pension? What about a company pension?

I don’t think the source of the income matters, it is the amount. The expansion account states you need a minimum monthly income of 700€, We had free banking until now. If you do not also have their insurance or mortgage or other product, then you pay 20€ a quarter.
