I also had UK premium bonds when I moved to Spain but with the loss of tax free status and payment of tax on the interest gained I decided that there was no gain holding UK premium bonds for non UK residents. It would be nice to find something worthwhile investing in here in Spain but can't seem ...

...to find anything that I trust putting money into sadly. I'll keep looking and maybe something will turn up.

Have an enjoyable day Sheila 😊

And you Steve  Onwards and upwards, as they say. At least the weather is beautiful. 😎

I agree with Jack......

I used to pay €60 per annum with my residents account at Sabadell but since I've been having my UK retirement pension paid directly into my Sabadell account I've not paid any fees.

Free banking.

Steve

The only problem with having your pension paid directly to Sabadell is that they don’t give you a good exchange rate. I leave mine until the rate is good then transfer this myself via Wise.

Cheers

That is totally incorrect Joan..

When you have your uk retirement pension paid directly into your Spanish account you get the UK interbank rate of the day and no fees for doing so.

I used to transfer the money using Wise but they charge a fee.

Some pensioners don't have the option of waiting for the exchange rate to increase which often could take many weeks, especially in recent times.

Sabadell don’t give you the live rate so it’s always lower - I’ve checked it many times. I agree not all pensioners can wait for the exchange rate to increase. Before I cancelled Sabadell transferring they were charging 17€ per month for the pension transaction, but maybe that’s changed now.

I’m just speaking from my experience so maybe it’s different for others.

You're confusing me a little.....

It's the UK government that transfers the UK pensions (into a Sabadell account) not Sabadell, so I get the full interbank exchange rate to transfer money. Its not transferred by Sabadell. If you ask banks to transfer money then you will get charged heavily. Sabadell do not charge any fee to have pension money paid in to an account.

Which branch is closing please? Also, query the charge. I do not think you should be paying when you have their Insurance.
