My husband who has Lewy Body Dementia lies on his back when in bed but has this weird habit of "throwing" his legs to each side and this has resulted in him having very painful hip pain in the morning .   I have tried pillows on each side of the legs.   Any advice or daft ideas would be welcome.   Now resorting to giving him a painkiller every morning as I can see the pain he is in.  If I try to move legs during the night he is in more pain.

Thanks Annemarie

Hi Annmarie,

You could try a weighted blanket. Sold on Amazon.

Kind regards,

If the bed is i the middle of the room, put it up against the wall and if he sleeps close to the wallside his legs cant move, you sleep next to him to stop the other one. Or if easier you can get paraplegic leg braces that keep legs together in the wheelchair but you can apply them for bedtime use

If he wears pjs maybe you could sew some strong stretchy material between the inside leg seams that would let him move but not enough to throw his legs wide apart.
