Hi, we are moving to Campoverde in October and bringing our cat over from the UK. Is the vets in the village the best one to register with and if so does anyone have an email for them. Thanks Kim

Hi....you will love Campoverde, we have been there for 12 years....time flies!

George is the vet in our village and is brilliant, he looked after our doggie since we moved there, unfortunately we had to have Lizzie dog put to sleep last October due to age and dementia and he did this with love and care and took nearly an hour giving us time to cuddle and reassure her.

I am not at home at the mo but when I get back next Saturday I will send you all his details as they are at my casa there.

Good luck with the move...Amanda

Hi Amanda, we love Campoverde, everyone is so friendly and seem really happy here. Thanks for the vet info, it's always good to be recommended by someone and it sounds like they really care so I look forward to hearing from you with details.

We are back to the UK today and then back here permanently on the 17th October and can't wait. Just hope it goes quickly.

Thanks again

Kim

Hi Catherine,

We just registered our cat with the vet in the village but not sure of the name but there is only one. He was really helpfully and speaks English. Make sure you take the pet passport and vaccination details. If your dog is chipped, you will need to have a Spanish mobile number for them to register them onto their database over here as English ones have too many digits. Also take your passport or NIE number with you.

Hope this helps.

Kim

We recommend Moby Dicks down in Pilar ....a little further down to drive but so worth it.

We moved over last year and took our little dog to the vet in the village as he was unwell and fainting so the vet put him on 2 lots of medication for heart murmur. I asked if he should have some tests, ECG? ULTRASOUND?XRAY? So that we could see the true condition of his heart, the vet said no need because the treatment is the same regardless of the findings.

Sadly we took his advice and watched our dog decline for 3 months (we even returned to the vet with our concerns about his health and well being)before taking a second opinion from Moby Dicks who immediately did XRays and arranged a cardiologist...the results were not good and his medications were immediately changed to suit the condition of Congestive Heart Failure and Pulmonary edema. We also had to change his diet to cardiac Royal Canin and put him on ferusomide to try to help with the fluid on his lungs....we were told that he was too ill to even walk.....if only we had known all this 3 months earlier!

We lost our little dog just a few months later but strongly believe that had he been given the proper tests when we asked for them then we could have treated him correctly earlier thus slowing down the condition and making our dog more comfortable in his last 6 months of his life.

I'm not saying that the village vet should be avoided as we have heard both good and bad about him, just wanted to share our own personal experience which I'm afraid was not good.

Best of luck new people and fur babies and welcome to beautiful Campoverde x
