Looking for recommendations for Optician / Optometrist please.

I see that there is an Optician in Campoverde.  I haven’t visited an Optician in Spain before.  How does the eye test and costs for lenses and frames compare with the UK?

I require complex lenses and there is a history of Glaucoma in our family.

Would you recommend the Optician in Campoverde or would you suggest I go further afield?

Do most Opticians in the area speak English?

I went to the optician in Campoverde (opposite Juanitas) for an eye test.

Excellent service. In the end I didn't need new glasses. I wasn't charged for the eye tests, although I tried very hard to pay.

I failed the pressure test, and went back regularly for 3 weeks for re-tests. The results didn't look good - glaucoma was mentioned.

In the end I had the test again in the UK .... they told me I was a "lid-squeezer". It took 2 opticians to test me .... one to operate the test machine and one to hold my flippin eyes open !

My wife isn't a lid-squeezer. She had excellent service. New glasses next-day and very happy with the price.

Used the Optometrist located in the shopping mall at Mercaonda in Playa Flamenca, excellent service, English speaking, no charge for the eye test, got two pairs of glasses and a pair of prescription sunglasses, would recommend them.

Thank you, I think that is where I was recommended to go for our passport photos a couple of years ago!

Hi RayD, do they do the photo of back of eye and peripheral vision tests too?  I hope so, used to live in Malta and they did not, would only do if there was a problem, so we have had to have eye tests in UK because of this.  I am keeping fingers crossed that you will say they do!
