Hi Keith,

Welcome to the forum and congratulations on your purchase.

When you say you want to pay the "Suma", do you mean IBI (Council Tax)?  If so, as you've only just bought the property, payment has to be made by whoever owned the property on 1 January, i.e. the previous owners.  Your lawyer should have made a retention from your purchase funds to cover the cost of this year's Council Tax.  (For info, SUMA is the agency that collects local taxes on behalf of the Town Halls in the Alicante province - they also collect car taxes.)

Regarding "Residents assoc fees", I think you mean Community fees?  If you can't get any sense out of your lawyer, speak to your community president or administrators, who will be able to advise you.

Hopefully, your lawyer has arranged for the utility bills to be switched into your name.

Kind regards,

Kim
