Hi looking to buy a small holiday home in Murcia area but came across pinoso, we are early 50s keen runner and husband avid cyclist, looking for holiday home initially with perhaps retirement later. Just wondering if anyone living there just now could keep us right with safety (leaving home unattended for periods of time), reasonable social opportunities, anything really that would help us be confident in buying in the area?  Not looking for massive ex pat community but just opportunity to mingle and get to know our neighbours.  We are currently based in scotland, looking for a quiet pace of holiday home life.. are there any local cycling, running clubs ?  Learning Spanish currently as work with Spanish colleague..

thank you in advance

Lee

Hi Lee

AWe’ve just got back from villa martin area and spent a day in and around Pinoso looking at fincas and villas. We were shown around the area with a very helpful estate agent from the town who gave loads of insight into the town, its amenities and community. Contact Annalise at country fincas in the town. https://www.countryfincas.com/

One further thought. The agent told us that house prices in the Pinoso area are rising fast. €50k more than last year on a typical 3 bed finca

If you're buying a home in the town itself, leaving it for extended periods shouldn't be too much of a problem, but if you're thinking of buying a country house, especially if it's remote, I'd think very carefully if it's going to be left for long periods. Unfortunately, remote country houses tend to get burgled so you need to bear this in mind.

Also squatters are on the look out for these type of properties.

Hi Lee,

Similar position to you guys but little older. We saw really lovely properties in and around Pinoso. We were not able to retire in Spain yet and were mindful of leaving our house empty for 6 months out of the year. We went to Antonio Del Finca in Pinoso. Antonio is a gentle character not at all pushy and we immediately felt comfortable with his office. Viewed loads of houses with his agency (they never got tired of us) and ended up buying the second house we viewed with him six months previously. We bought a charming country house in a beautiful little village called Encebras. Our house was crying out for tlc, so over the years we have got it to our design. Our neighbour's are Spanish. We love them. There is a little taberna in the village which serves splendid food. Everyone looks out for each other.  Take a look at Encebras and get a feel for the village. It may be what your looking for.

Burglaries in and around Pinoso are rare, though they do happen. As for squatters I have never heard of a single Intrusion.

Hi Lee. I like Pinoso. So much so, I’m building a villa close by and have just bought an apartment in town. I’m also an avid cyclist and have potential to ride with a few others in the area one I’ve moved, in August this year.
