Hi Jan, my wife and I are moving to Pinoso very soon, we need to apply for residency. We can afford to buy, but have been advised to rent due to the current sluggishness of the Spanish property scene. We have secured a short term let, to allow us to get the feel of Spanish life, can you give us some imput of how easy it would be for us to complete the conditions to allow a smooth transition into our new adventure. Im 63 and my wife is 57, we are both fit and active. Yours most sincerely Paul.

Hi Paul,

Welcome to Spain. I'm not sure about the advice that you have been given to rent but then again I'm not connected to the property market and certainly no expert, but for what its worth I would have thought that now is the time to buy. Prices are good and seem to have bottomed out with some 'experts' predicting a slow and steady rise in the year(s) to come.

I'm up in Adsubia and have certainly seen the property market start to move with many more properties being sold now  than in recent years. As Ashley2 says there's usually always friendly brits and other ex pats around willing to help over a coffee or beer.

A neighbour of mine recommended this book which has good reviews on Amazon, it may also help: You & the Law in Spain: 2015 Edition by David Searle.

Hope this helps.
