Hello All,

Yesterday my cat brought in a young budgie as a gift, fortunately the budgie was OK, but he seems frightened and lonely, we played him budgie sounds, and he has now chirped to us, but I think for his well being he needs to be with his own kind as he is only a young bird, is there anyone out there who keeps budgies or is prepared to look after and care for him, I don't want him to be stuck in one of those awful tiny canary cages, that the Spanish seem to have.

Anyone who has at least one budgie would like to take him, for free, please let me know.

Many thanks to you all

Jean W.

I hope so too!  Nicola, they live in Spain ( if they've escaped, or flown from the Antipodes. 🐦). 😇. V. x

Hello,

NO I checked, they are not indigenous to Spain, usually Parakeets only, but can survive if they escape sometimes.

Thanks

Hi, not sure if hes an escapee or a wild one, Ray said they do live here in colonies, so not sure if I should let him go, as hes on his own, might not survive?

Can you release budgies into the wild?NO! Please don't do it. They were born and brought up in captive. They don't know how to survive in the wild.

Hello, thank you all for your very helpful interest and replies, I will keep him, he is a green male, young bird.

It would have been nice for someone that has budgies to take him, so he is not alone, in the meantime lots of happy budgie videos for him to watch.

I doubt if the wild birds would let him, they would kill him/her don’t forget the buzzards and other birds of prey would benefit from a meal😢. if you were able to find a decent size cage and even train him to fly around inside you home he would be far happier in your company they are quite solitary birds unless put in an Avery, perhaps an advert may find his original owner? ......good luck
