Hi. My wife and I are coming over and will be driving  through France and Spain.

We will be out the uk for about 76 days. Has anyone on the forum taken out European breakdown cover. I can’t upgrade my uk cover as its in with the warranty and will only cover me in the uk.

What are you’re experiences and have you ever broken down.

Hi, we took out breakdown insurance back in 2019, never needed it, we have been back for 3 month trips several times since then without cover, as yet never needed assistance.

Remember and check how long your car insurance allows you to drive in Europe, its now unusual for an insurer to cover for 3 months.

We used euro breakdown, link below.

Hi,

we have breakdown cover through out Nationwide Flexplus account, covers UK and Europe. You need to have a flexplus account and the charge is £13 per month, that cost includes travel and mobile phone insurance also. With the travel insurance there are additional charges for age and length of trip.

Worth taking a look, google Nationwide flexplus account for the details

Rgds,

Aitch.

Thanks for this info.

I’m covered in the uk through my Hyundai warranty and breakdown cover. I got this free with the car as its new. Unfortunately they don’t upgrade it to cover Europe. So I need a separate insurance.
