I'm afraid there isn't an easy or cost-effective way to do it. I mention the topic here:

Before you do anything, you will of course have to get a new passport.

Thankyou but this doesn't specifically answer my question .. is a decree absolute sufficient in Spain?  Does it need to be translated and seen by notary?  Is a kon notarized copy sufficient with a passport?  Do I need to change by deed poll  for Spain, this is not necessary in the UK.   I guess this isn't common in Spain? 🤔  thx

Sorry, but I don't see the problem - unless you've got Spanish citizenship. Your UK passport is proof of your name, so you can go ahead and make all the necessary changes here. They should all be fairly easy, although the residency change will mean submitting an EX-18 at a national police station.

Hi there, I got remarried in Gibralter after my divorce, I have changed most of my name on official documents like NIE, padron, driving licence, in Spain if your Spanish you don't change your name, you just add your present name on the end.     I did change my passport though, but kept my old one too.

Hi, i reed your story. I had the same issue. Remarried but on the old documents mine old married name . This is what i do for get mine maiden name back in Spain.

Pasport need your maiden name. Then translate the divorce papers from English to Spanish. Make an appointment with the police for extranjero . Change the name on the NIE document to your maiden name, you need the document of divorce for that otherwise they will not accept and you cannot change anything. Then you can change the name of the residence card also. Then bring all the document you have with your maiden as proof. Maby they want to see more then only a few documents. Better to much then to less is mine motto.

I hope that i help you a little bit further in this proces. Good luck.

Anna
