Hello, just wondered if anyone can give me a rough idea of the cost of running a 2 or 3 bed  brought  property per month for permanent living  just to see if really affordable after falling in love with Playa Flamaencs.

Thanks

Jan

Hello Jan hope you are well.

It can be difficult to say. Depends what tariff you are on and what appliances you use. In our village the small Spanish terraced houses manage with 1 light bulb and a paraffin heater, never open the window shutters in summer.

You could ask to see several utility bills before you buy.

All the best and good luck.

As others have said, all we can do is guess! But.........any extra you may pay will be more than compensated by the much lower council tax, cheaper food, drink etc.

Electric is more expensive here due to the higher standing charges but we pay @ €50 per month all year round. There's usually just two of us in the house and we run 2 freezers, a large American style fridge/freezer, oven, washing machine, tumble dryer, dishwasher, pool pump plus the usual small appliances. We don't have air-con though so if you will be using this to cool in summer and heat in winter, this will add up.
You can choose plan noche with cheaper electric between 11 pm and 12 mid-day in summer and 10 pm to 1 pm in winter or choose your own cheaper hours. Our washer, dryer and dishwasher all go on during the cheaper hours and all on timers as we can't have more than one on at a time without everything tripping out.
We live much better on our money here.

It's a local Albatera co-operative type company but I think the rates are pretty much standard, it's just a case of timing and we use bottled gas for central heating and hot water which helps to keep the electric bills down.
