I wouldnt bother, no matter how well its done, it will be practically ineffective, I have experience of this, its extremely difficult to reduce transmitted sound, its up to you but you will disappointed.

From my experience, I've found that the issue is that the soundproofing is often most effective in the property causing the noise rather than the property receiving the noise!

As an example - and it's easier to use flats in this instance - it's better to have proper underlay/insulation in the flat above to minimise the noise coming through to the flat below. & it's way cheaper and easier to install in that flat than in the ceilings of the flat below.

So unless you own both properties in the scenario, I wouldn't be bothering either!
