Hi, looking for a bit of advice on driving down from Bilbao to Punta Prima. There are a couple of possible routes (ie skirting Madrid or via Zaragoza) but anyone has any opinions on which is the most scenic? We'll be going back via Toledo and Valladolid so want something different on the way down. Any other pointers on the drive would also be appreciated.

I think the Zaragoza route pretty if you like High Plains Drifter scenery and the Tapas at service station 209 on A23 are very good

There is a ring road around Madrid to avoid the city. We always go Bilbao, Burgos, Madrid (on the R1/R2), Albacete, Elche, then join the AP7. Motorway all the way and lots of nice castles (how unusual) to see on the way. Usually just a bit of traffic (but not excessive) around the big towns.
We usually stop just after Madrid at one of the service stations but there are quite a few parking and picnic areas between Madrid and Albacete for stretching the legs.
