How much do you charge?

I don't charge anything or advise on the forum but a Gestor might to get you registered 😏

My solicitor wanted €120 so I tried myself and found out how easy it was once I got an appointment.

I went on their website at 0830 everyday for a few days then got an appointment rest is easy.

I needed to do the S1 for my father he is retired.

A gestor mailed the documents to INSS Torrevieja and it's been 3 weeks and no answer.

Asked them 7 days ago and told her that in less than 4 days we will get the appointment but nothing.

Any ideea how much time could take to get the appointment?

Most gestors tend to do this online nowadays. But you don’t get a SIP card until the S1 has been registered, so I don’t understand your post. I’ve been waiting over 4 weeks for my S1 to be registered. I previously piggybacked off my husband but now have to have my own registration. My gestor advised that even after completing an online submission I’m looking at a minimum 10-12 week processing time.

Hi Sue,

My friend and her husband tried for weeks to get an appointment at Torrevieja INSS office.  In the end, she used a gestor, Sophie Johnson, to sort it out and she only charged €30.  Sophie´s number is (00 34) 675 367 098 - she will respond quicker if you send her a WhatsApp message, r...

Kind regards,

Kimmy you seem to be very knowledgable and helpful, my wife received an email thus:  I’m writing to you from the NHS Business Services Authority (NHSBSA) about your healthcare cover in Spain. You were issued an S1 certificate on 10/05/2019. Your healthcare cover is only valid once your S1 has been registered. To register, you must hand both copies of your S1 to your local Instituto Nacional de la Seguridad Social (INSS) office. If accepted, they will register your S1, keep one copy and send the other to us. They will also issue you with an accreditation document, which you can take to your local health centre.

We have been here 5 years with no probs and she has a SIP card and has received treatment etc. Should we be worried?

I’ve recently received my own S1 after having piggybacked off my husband . Took my S1 into a local gestor to register for me and they advised it could be at least  10 weeks before it’s registered. Reason being that the NHS had sent out reminders to people with unregistered S1 forms and there’s now a backlog of applications . So that sort of ties in with  what you’ve said in your post.

I would get your S1 re registered if I was in your situation, as it looks as though the paperwork has not been completed properly in the UK and they could then advise the Spanish healthcare cover is not required. Better to be safe than sorry.

There was also a comment on a sister forum a couple of months back of a lady who had her medical cover stopped  (she had cover through her own S1) and she had to phone for a copy  S1 and have that  registered , even though she thought all her paperwork was correct, it seems as though someone had pressed the wrong button on a computer and she’d been de-registered.

There were also a few cases a while back in Rojales, when the “lady in the ayuntamiento” was issuing cards and taking S1 forms , without them going through the correct channel at INSS Torrevieja.

Lynn

Edit After reading your post again, have you got your copy of the accreditation document from when you first registered your S1, perhaps you need to take that along to a gestor as well.

Hi George,

The process that NHSBSA have described for registering an S1 in Spain and obtaining a SIP card is exactly as I would expect - did your wife do this when she received her S1 in 2019?  If so, I wouldn't be worried, but for peace of mind, I'd suggest contacting NHSBSA for clarification.

The S1 scheme in the UK used to be managed by the DWP (Department of Work and Pensions), but was transferred to the NHSBSA in January 2020, so perhaps something has fallen between the cracks during the transition.  The bottom line is that Spain would not be able to claim the cost of your wife's healthcare from the UK if the registration hadn't been effected correctly, and if that was the case, I would expect INSS to be contacting her rather than NHSBSA.  It may even be that the UK end are trying to get their records in order and have only just realised that they never received their copy of the S1 from Spain.  As I said, I'd contact NHSBSA for an explanation - you can find their contact details here:

Kind regards,

Kim

Thanks Kimmy, we both took our docs to the medical place in Dolores in early 2019 when we arrived and they issued SIPS. Maybe as you say its got lost in UK, we emailed UK back but no answer so far. As i say they have provided medical service for 5 years now so its strange.

Hi George,

Did your wife piggy-back off your S1 with a dependant's S1, or had she reached State retirement age in 2019 and qualified for an S1 in her own right?

When you say you took your "docs" to Dolores medical centre, was that the registration letter you received from INSS in exchange for your S1s?

So many permutations, depending on your individual S1 status and whether you registered them correctly, that it's impossible to be definitive, but it's good that you've already made contact with NHSBSA.

Kind regards,

Kim
