Hi George,

Did your wife piggy-back off your S1 with a dependant's S1, or had she reached State retirement age in 2019 and qualified for an S1 in her own right?

When you say you took your "docs" to Dolores medical centre, was that the registration letter you received from INSS in exchange for your S1s?

So many permutations, depending on your individual S1 status and whether you registered them correctly, that it's impossible to be definitive, but it's good that you've already made contact with NHSBSA.

Kind regards,

Kim

Si Kimmy wifey is only a youngster of 52 so she got it on me. I think it was the form from local INSS we took to Dolores as you say. I normally scan and copy all and store so i will search the filing cabinet for copies. Got a second email from UK saying almost the same as first so a bit worried. Time for a martini and a think, shaken not stirred as i am Scottish.

Hi George,

As far as I'm aware, your wife's S1 as a dependant beneficiary only expires once she reaches State retirement age, at which time she will need to apply for an S1 in her own right.  (Unless she's entitled to her own S1 because she's in receipt of another Exportable Benefit, e.g. Disability Living Allowance?  In this instance, her S1 would expire if she ceased receiving the benefit.)

If NHSBSA doesn't respond to your email, I'd suggest giving them a call - the contact number for S1 queries is 00 44 (0)191 218 1999.  And if you wouldn't mind, once you get to the bottom of it, please would you update this thread, as the explanation could be useful to other members.

Good luck!

Kind regards,

Kim
