My tax is roughly the same but the insurance is alot cheaper and the running cost, like fuel. Half a tank 20euros in UK its atleast 40

99% of the times
Cheap car = old car = a lot of km = old pieces = unsafe car
40 year old classic cares unsafe? Maintain your vehicle and its going to be safe.

Fuel prices in the uk are around 20% higher than spain due to higher uk fuel duty so 20 euros worth of fuel would cost around 24 euros

Hi, I'm looking to buy a really cheap run around car to use whilst we are at our Holiday Home. We will only be using it for around 10 weeks a year which is to much to rent but not long enough to be worth getting a good car
Looking to spend up to 1500 Euros but the cheaper the betterRead more...
...>We will be needing it by the time we come out on the 31st July so if anyone has any plans to sell theirs in the next few months give me a shout and we can sort a deal out. Happy to only do the transfer when you are actually ready
Thinking that there may be people that are returning to the UK but will need their car until the time is right etc
I'm over for a week 12th Feb and again for a couple weeks beginning of April so can have any discussions or meets then
Hi, can someone please clarify the law re cars in Spain. I was under the impression that a non resident (tourist) can not legally drive/own a Spanish registered car in Spain ,except for a vehicle that has been hired to him under a legal car rental contract.? Also , is there not a time limit that a UK registered car can be kept or used in Spain and that the car has to be removed from Spain after some months. Some years ago , a friend of mine had his car taken off him by the police for the car being kept in the country for too long. I believe that there are strong penalties for anyone caught driving a vehicle that should no longer be in the country and not had the registration changed over to a spanish plate, which would not be possible for a non resident to do..I may be wrong about this , and would be really pleased if someone could clarify the facts.

Thank you for your reply, i have learnt something new . Do you know by any chance what documents a non resident needs to register a car in Spain. Surely a permanent address is required ,? thanks Rob.

Correct...We have Irish, Norwegian and German neighbours (all non-resident) own their homes and all have Spanish registered cars. They all visit 3 to 4 times a year and they all keep their cars at various Alicante airport parking businesses.
