The change is, no fit to fly test, antigen day 2 test rather than PCR, presently around £80 for both, after late October £30.

That's in England, I understand Scotland and Wales still require pre flight and post flight tests at the moment, not sure what the requirements are for NI.

Aitch.

I live in Wales and it’s very different to England

Nothing has changed for Wales as yet still Ned to complete locator forms for both directions and a day 2 test from public health Wales at 86 quid

So I assume you still have to buy the 2 day lateral flow test before returning to the UK after October, to put the code on the locator form.  Not much change then!

When we went a few mth ago we did our 2 day test, got Neg result, forgot to register it... No contact from anyone about it... And a friend of ours returned without even buying a return test... Flew home no bother... Didnt bother getteing a test... Did his own lateral flow one.

No change,  still paying for a code to put on a form.

I I’ve heard of people using the same code for multiple trip. No one is checking day 2 results and self admin is just a joke!

You can buy a second day PCR test from expert medical for £28 why splash out any more that you have to, hopefully some time in October this will be reduced further and you will only need an antigen test. Safe travels everyone.

Expert Medicals where removed from the UK government approved list on 3rd September, take a look at their Trustpilot reviews and you'll see why.

Thanks Aitch,

My daughter has just returned to the UK England on Monday 19th and has received her day 2 PCR test from Medical Experts which is still valid.

I've just read that although Expert Medical is no longer on gov site they can still sell tests for travel. And previously bought tests are still valid for travel.

Appearance on gov.uk shows that firms have demonstrated compliance with the applicable minimum standards but is not a legal requirement. You probably know that.

I don't think this will be of any concern soon, but if I have a choice of paying £40 or £28, I know which one I would choose.

Cheers keep safe.

Yes, it is crazy that they can still sell tests, even whilst they are under investigation by the The CMA (Competition and Markets Authority).

The reduced testing requirement (antigen rather than PCR) is meant to come into effect before half term, which is around last week in October. The sooner the better.

Aitch.
