Farmacia in Spain can be expensive for certain tablets but overall they are honest businesses and wouldn't over charge you. Look up the cost of your prescription meds online as a comparison.

A prescription does not necessarily excempt you from paying, except beneficiaries of the Spanish social security system, who pay nothing or 10%.

I agree 85 euros does seem a lot for a prescription, my wife visited the doctor in the second half of 2019 and she paid 49 euros for her prescription, coming from Scotland where prescription has been free for many years ,it did seem a lot ,my wife brings her tablets from UK when we come over and in the event of any of us developing a condition ,while in Spain, we will just have to hope its treatable by less expensive medicines

My point was as prescriptions are free in Scotland ,big difference zero costs to 85 euros ,in England people pay for prescriptions ,maybe this is due to Conservative government strategy ,so 85 euros will not be as big a shocking to them ,by the way I think prescriptions should be free in all parts of UK

Yes, certain people have to pay a prescription charge in UK, which as it is a flat rate, bears absolutely no relation to the cost of the drugs. BUT, the list of exempt people is enormous, comprising many pensioners, mothers of small children, the unemployed, and many others whose entitlement escapes me atm. In percentage terms, those who pay the flat rate charge is small.
