Hello

What is the big deal about wearing face masks to reduce spreading flu? People say " we never used to do it years ago"

Well, we do a lot of things now that we didnt used to do ,, & as we are all getting older,  surely anything that assists  our heath is beneficial.

Help yourself before needing others to help you.

Cheers

As an update, the rest of Spain has delayed making facemasks compulsory in health centres etc and will meet again mid week to discuss the matter and assess the evolution of the respiratory infections.

Only Aragon has joined in with Catalonia, Valencia and Murcia and made facemasks necessary but then only for health workers. Patients will be advised to wear masks when undergoing consultation.

K2,Agree in the entirety of your post. Correct usage in its employ may assist. The misuse, may actually hinder via complacent attitude ( eg: avoidance common sense, travel, personal contact etc). V2 x

Everyone's wearing face masks now in our clinic in Benidorm, I've always wore a mask in the clinic even when not required to.

I've never had a flu jab in all my life.....and never had flu.......

Hi. Many (everyone in clinics etc as described as required) are starting mascarillas around here too.

I´ve never had a flu/covid vaccination (but my partner & large family have). Some have being covid diagnosed. Some (who live together) are not.

We all (vac or no), many seem to have a "runny nose syndrome". over 18 months. Those still alive, worst in the winter time.

I couldn't agree more!  Unfortunately, it seems that modern society is more about "MY rights" than caring about society as a whole 🤔

Kind regards,

So let me get this straight. We have just had a major campaign and uptake of the covid and flu jabs these last couple of months. And now we see a major rise in covid and flu cases, and at a time of year when flu is renown for being rampant anyway. And now we have to wear masks again to stop it? R...

...ight........No link there of course.

Maybe we should all just wear one forever and have done with it. It seems that's what some people in power are angling for.

I remember the days when if someone got sick with flu/cold or whatever, they stayed at home and loaded up on vicks and honey and lemon (and brandy), and sweated it out. There was no need for a yearly fear campaign regarding respiratory issues during WINTER in the past and there's not one now.

Now its anytime someone sneezes out come the mask mandates. It's ridiculous to insist people with zero symptoms are being asked to mask up. By all means wear one if it makes you feel better. But i won't. The last time i got sick was during the mask mandates and i have been fine since. I won't be wearing one again if they make it mainstream.

The problem with this kind of overreaction is that it takes no account of the current circumstances.   We have an exponential spike in infection of multiple viruses and the authorities have mandated a LIMITED reintroduction of mask-wearing, which will have little to no impact on the majority of us.  I have every confidence that these requirements will be lifted, once the infection rate is back under control.

Unfortunately, there will always be some who think their rights are more important than taking care of society as a whole.  Perhaps you would prefer our hospitals to be overwhelmed to the extent that, not only can they not manage the spike in viral infections, they don't have the capacity to deal with day-to-day hospitalisations either? 🤦‍♀️

I don't think it's an over reaction at all. Last time mandates started coming out, it was soon followed by more and more mandates, and restrictions which had us all locked away for months on end, sick or not. The effects of that in terms of economic damage is still being felt today, not to mention the damage done to supply chains, the employment sector etc. So as i said to marcliff, again, excuse my scepticism.

As for the mask bit...well....each to there own as to their effectiveness. The scientific and health community is still very divided on that issue. Then there's the many videos of shady manufacturing practices which rendered them as hygienic as if you had wiped a toilet seat with them. Not to mention the chemical used to sterilise them, which you would be breathing in and out. All i know is that they made me sicker when i had a chest infection, and prolonged the sickness. When i ditched the mask, my chest was able to breathe fresh air instead of my own regurgitated bacteria, and therefore finally heal. Oxygen kills bacteria and germs after all. A fact lost today by modern "health professionals".

As i said before, IF, they expand it to use like they did during that episode 2 years ago, i will not be wearing one, because doing so makes me sicker. Not to mention constitutionally illegal.

I don't see what the big deal is just pop one on . When COVID outbreak was here in the UK flu cases were almost none existent through the wearing of masks , also in hospitals doctors surgery s etc   this is one place where your going to find people with ailments such as flu and the like, so it just makes common sense to wear one,   also my wife has breast cancer  and due to the endless visits  to the hospital for treatments (for the possible cure of this dreadful illness) she has no immune  system  so is very vulnerable to pick up things very easily.

So really it a no brainer in my view and it's only a small inconvenience  in reality so I can't see what all the fuss is about !!!
