Hi can anyone help as a little confused! We own a house and would at some point like to live there we did for 2 years living and working legally paying tax etc but never became a resident as I believe it wasn’t required???I might be wrong so my question is what do we need to move back , we haven’t managed to get back over because of covid but also worried about our bank and up dating any details if that is needed ? We haven’t received any letters saying we need to will all be ok ?

Hi you ,need to apply for a visa at Spanish embassy, most banks have web site and english speaking advisors , get in touch with bank , go and have a holiday first , any problems we use a company called ex_pat services in la zenia, any problems they will help .
JoJo, You will need to go into your Bank in Spain and sign a new contract including your Passport and National insurance number. You will probably find your Bank account could have been frozen. This has happened to many UK second home owners as we are now considered third country nationals as we have left the EU. You cannot do this online. It can only be done in Branch.
Do this asap.
You can only apply for Residency from the Spanish Embassy in the UK, you cannot do it from within Spain.
The Criteria is different to how it was when the Uk was an EU member state.
