And I would assume after all of that then the Spanish state will say

Oh, you have been a resident for x years, you owe us a lot of back tax, and we are going to charger it to your assets if you do not pay up.

And if you pay up

They may say

Thank You

Yes correct, as I mentioned in my first post, Historic Dates.

Looks like steve and jan above are in for a surprise.

€€€€€€€€€€€€ and lots of them

But the 'sort of people' who were and are under the radar are going to find a way to get back to the UK and afterward sort out there Spanish affairs saying they were not resident, and paying a small amout of Non resident tax.

Not the 'sort of people' that any country needs.

all i stated was that Spain might change their mind about residencies in the future ,so keep taking the meds

If Spain had wanted different rules for residency then they could have put them in place, and they would apply to all, not just UK citizens, so you are deluding yourselves.

Why would Spain change to rules to accommodate people who have lived below the radar and cheated the system.

Why would Spain change to rules for those too silly to adapt to the changes that they knew and what the new rules were and when they were coming, with plenty of chances to comply, as did most UK citizens living in Spain.

I do not know which of the above you are, but clearly from your posts your are illegals, and maybe fit into both of these having lived below the radar and too silly to comply.

I would think that will have a detrimental affect on the health of you, so maybe you should keep on taking the medication and maybe consider increasing it.

I do not have those concerns so no medication for me, so please don't concern yourselves about my medical needs.

MichaelJS none of the above refers to people who have done the right think at the right time.

You are welcome.

Not a nice situation to find yourself in.

Have you employed one of the listed lawyers ?

Hi my daughter is applying with CSB bureau in Calle Concepción in Torrevieja, sorry don't know where you are, they are brilliant quick and efficient, speak English and a lot of expats use them.

Good Luck Jean

Since Brexit all applications need to start at the Spanish Consulate in the UK so nothing they can do from Spain, firstly they must return to the UK to start the process.

In my opinion it does not bode well for them or anyone else in the same position as the situation they find themselves in usually catches up with them making things worse....

...

Can't they apply for asylum or stop there by the means of saying" they have a right to a family"  ,  this is what illegal immigrants do in the uk , or just come back to the uk ,

And the Spanish state will be right in saying thank you & good riddance - anybody avoiding paying tax by living under the radar deserves to be hit with a back payment covering what they owe - plus fines - if/when they get caught. If you break the rules, you have to accept the consequences if ...

...caught - no good pleading innocence or being afraid of getting kicked out  as a non-resident

I agree, most of these people think they're different to the illegals in UK, you're not!! They new they were breaking the law, tough is what I say

I agree entirely while we are spending money they will turn a blind eye.

But a friends solicitor chaired a meeting with the police and they said they will not be chasing 90 day dodgers now but will be next year.

They have not got enough police to worry about this.

Interesting, but life will get more difficult, Spain is very bureaucratic and if you are illegal then you have to watch your every turn.

With no stamps in your passports the authorities will not have to chase them, they will make themselves know soon enough, I would not want to lead my life never sure when not it I am going to be found out as being illegally in the Schengen area, it is not a Spanish law and the other countries will expect Spain to do it bit to uphold the law.

Anything you need to do in Spain you need documents firstly a passport or TIE

Such as a property rental, a new mobile Phone sim or to book into a hotel, you will have to be careful that you do not encounter the police of any other official where you need to produce papers. You will always feel like a pantomime character and thinking he's behind me, and do not trust either your enemies or your friends, as any of them can shop you if you upset them.

Why if you had the right to obtain it would you not have applied for residency in the first place (Answers welcome), that was the easy option.
