hola,

can anyone shed some light on why I'm getting extremely high water bills?

the property is empty and i paid over 250 euro last month and then 360 euro this month!!!!

normally my bill is less than 40 euro a month

is anyone else experiencing the same thing?

at first i thought i had paid several months in one go which accounts for the first  high bill but the very next month i get an even higher one....

i don't unfortunately speak Spanish and I'm hoping someone may be able to shed some light..

tia

Sounds to me as though you have a leak or someone is using your property or if you are remote then someone is tapping into your system.

Hope there is a proper explanation, don't you have any neighbors who could check

Hi Paul,

We had a leak repaired last xmas but the bills were never this high. I know the water company didn’t take a dd during first lockdown and we accepted the first bill on that basis. We live on a urb with plenty of nieghbours so unlikely any skull duggery. im hoping it’s an billing error

Thanks for your suggestions

Hello Terry.

Would be me-and despite an already fixed leak-I would ask someone to have a look on the flow meter in the street.House being unoccupied the meter shouldn’t move.If it does, you have a leak somewhere. If you can discard the leak than you can suspect a billing error...

hi philippe,

thank you for your comments, im hoping for an error but i do have a swimming pool which does have an auto fill on it which would be the prime suspect

Have the same and you are right:thats the first thing a plumber would look at.

I faced the same situation not such a long time ago (leak in a pipe before entering the home-lucky unlucky). The first thing which attracted my attention was the flow meter-that’s why I mentioned it.Best of luck!

Suggest you get in touch with the water company. Maybe a leak somewhere on the property.

A friend got a bill earlier this year much higher than normal. He also suspected it may be his swimming pool. He got a plumber in and he checked everything and said there was no leak. He suggested getting a photo of his water meter. He took a photo and when he got his next bill he checked and found that he was being charged much more than the actual meter was showing. He took another picture and has sent the information to the water company who are now investigating.Could be worth taking meter readings/pictures.

it doesn’t help that the water company doesn’t include meter readings on bills.
