In November I finally received my S1 HEALTH INSURANCE, and asked my private one- Sanitas to cancel my membership. They refused and asked me to pay my private health insurance until 01/03/24. It is not a small amount and I continued to talk about it, no results. A few days ago I finally canceled my Sabadel banking and took Santander, took DD and left unpaid Sanitas. Has anybody advice, idea?
Such policies are normally non cancellable during their term and will say so in the contract.
If you stopped the DD expect a response which will quickly escalate to legal action if necessary.
Sooner or later you will pay, sooner will be considerably cheaper.

Unfortunately this is 100% true. One way or another they will get your money. Best advice just pay them and never use them again, if they ever call you asking you to return as a customer tell them exactly what happened and they might then give you the money back as an incentive to return, we had that experience with other companies

You must provide the insurance company with a minimum of 3 months notice. Please read the small print in your policy. Sanitas will pursue you for the payment and take legal action if necessary.

Hello, if you allow us a small clarification, for the cancellation of the insurance or for the communication of the opposition to its renewal, in its Article 22 Law 50/1980 Insurance Contract Law requires the policyholder to notify her/his wish by recorded postal letter to the insurance provider with a period of at least ONE MONTH prior to the conclusion of the current insurance period.
Since insurance companies and/or banks rarely acknowledge receipt of the cancellation, it is also advisable to cancel the direct debit.

Since 1st January 2016, the cancellation deadline has been set at one month, since previously it was mandatory to communicate the withdrawal two months before the end of the contract. This is reflected in article 22 of the Insurance Contract Law: “the parties may oppose the extension of the contract by means of written notification to the other party, made at least one month in advance of the conclusion.” of the current insurance period when the person who opposes the extension is the policyholder.
This is a legal obligation for all insurance companies in Spain, also in the case of DKV as indicated in their FAQ
https://dkvofertas.es/preguntas-frecuentes/renovacion-y-cancelacion/
Insurance companies, on the other hand, must communicate the renewal to the insured two months in advance of any modification that takes place in the policy before it is applied, such as, for example, a price increase, change in coverage, etc. . Thus, the insured has two months from the time he is notified of the change in his insurance to decide if she/he accepts the new conditions or if, on the contrary, prefers to cancel the contract.
