Pauline, I absolutely agree with you 100%

We too were ripped off by a so called builder (that wasn’t!)

We came here 2 yrs ago and initially viewed his property with the view to purchase, he spoke proudly that he had fully revonvated the property, he’s been here 13yrs running and advertising his own firm.

We purchased another property, within the same vicinity and was befriended by him

To cut a long story short we were seen as naive vulnerable walking wallets to a tune to date of nearly 60.000€!

He has ignored solicitors letters since realising the seriousness of his dealings in Spain have been nothing more than fraudulent...and at present he is  attempting to deal with his property (that he’s moved out of) and assets whilst preparing to scarper!

Personally, I will not let this lie, investigations are ongoing in Spain and the Uk.

My advice to anyone when new here.... take your time to settle in, not everyone that smiles at you is your friend.

So sorry for you but this happens all the time ,I know who have lost a lot more than this and trying to get legal settlement is almost impossible. I love spain and there culture unfortunately it's spoilt by other nationals who see as easy pickings with the brits some or worst for this abuse. I would guess 80pc of immigrants in spain are illegals .

Maybe it will change on day but pigs might fly.

Hi we have a holiday home in Polop near Benidorm. When we moved in we wanted to tile our front garden so found a builder who was British on recommendation from a friend in Spain.

This builder was brilliant. He advised us that we should notify the works to the local authority. We did this bt completing form that had to give builders full name and business address, works to be done, size of works and cost. Their was a charge to local auth but it was obviously to double check builder and that he was not over charging for job.

On the day of start of job the local auth appeared outside to check on job/builder.

We had a good experience.

I must also say we have had good experience will Spanish delivery services.

This subject has been mentioned before, Mr Ward's activities are being mentioned frequently on the "Named & Shamed" Facebook page. Some of the people who are unhappy with Mr Ward's behaviour are getting together to complain to the Guardia Civil as one. Working along the Costa Blanca, before that Almeria and the Costa  He did talk to us about Barcelona, could that be where he is heading? If a group is formed please can you include us? He ripped us off for over 2000 euros and cost us that again to put right his shoddy scam.
