I have just started a post box at San Mig Correos

I have received a few letters

However a small parcel which is tracked and needs signing for has not arrived, although on Royal Mail tracking info it says it is ready for delivery

Two visits to Correos have been fruitless and I am wondering if they are allowed to sign for someone elses mail under this arrangement.?

Can anyone help

I too have a PO box and hsve had all sorts of tracled and signed for mail and packages delivered to it.

The staff at the post office told me to use "Oficine de Correos" as the first line of my address as it was what gave them authority to sign for items on my behalf.

The one time the system didn't work was with an item ordered from eBay in UK and sent via their apalling and extortionate 'Global Shipping' programme under which delivery drivers must obtain a signature from the recipient in person.

Needless to say I learnt a lesson from that and won't be using it again.

Thank you so much for taking the time to reply

I found it stressful when I cant explain to the post lady what my problem is

She looked it up on the tracking system and said the number is wrong wherea the Royal Mail system says ready for delivery on 3rd of march,

Anyway I will ask my brother to try and find it from his end in London

I will also tell him to use the title you suggest in future.

Regards

Sally

I have a ‘post box‘ at Villamartin Post Shop at the Plaza.  Martin is very helpful there and takes large parcels.  My friend has a Correos box in Playa Flamenca and has issues with ‘delivered’ mail.  For instance, DPD gave estimated delivery date but parcel did not arrive.  Upon checking with DPD they said they could not deliver as planned because they are not able to deliver to post boxes with Correos so we ended up getting parcel redirected to a DPD collection point in La Zenia.  When you’re next renewing, it would be worth going with Villamartin Post Shop as you won’t have problems with deliveries.  I get all of my parcels including DPD, Seur, Amazon & eBay :)

The problem may be if the parcel has been sent via Correos Express who are not permitted to deliver to PO Boxes, unlike ordinary Correos, They also must deliver in person and obtain signature.

It's just a nightmare getting anything delivered to this country, when it goes wrong it goes catastrophically wrong, trying to find someone to take responsibility is like trying to find rocking horse sh*t.

I would disagree to an extent with your description of ‘nightmare’. Am not unsympathetic, because things can go badly awry, but we have always found both Correos and all delivery couriers etc to be very helpful; couriers usually ring to find out our exact directions - we live miles out in the campo where Google maps deny all knowledge - and the Correos central office has always been helpful when we’ve had to ring with delivery query.

I have found that there can be confusion with which is the correct ‘tracking number, as they appear to change from Royal Mail to local delivery numbers, but eventually have managed to sort things.
