As title - has anyone painted or had painted their concrete pool copings?

If so, what sort of paint was used and where from?

Our coping is deteriorating, but we’re not yet ready to replace it. Would like to find a coating which will stabilise it and cover the stains, but maintain the look and non-slip properties of the concrete. Is that an impossible dream?

If I could get it, I would try Sandtex. I note that AIM British Building Supplies sell it, but they only list the smooth stuff on their website.

Thanks in advance for any constructive advice.

Has no one any experience of this? I’d have thought someone would have done it at some point.

Hello Paul and Joyce,

Our communal pool is being renovated at the moment. When they paint the coping I will see what paint they are using. Like you, I want to be able to paint over the rust stains when they appear again. They have cut out all the stained areas which will then be filled in and painted. I will let you know what they use. Obviously painting is a temporary measure because the rust will eventually appear again, but it would be good to give it a touch-up now and then.

Hi Paul & Joyce,

They are now painting the coping stones. I will try to download a photo of the paint. Also the Oxirite that they used on the rust. First they cut out the offending area and then put this on to stop the rust coming through again.
