I'm really picking your brain here!

I am planning to be in Santa Pola from 01-28 Jan 2023 to look for a long-term (year+) rental. I was in Alicante last summer attending a Spanish language course and popped down to Santa Pola and really liked the place and the chance to practice my not-great Spanish.

For January my options are Airbnb or a small hotel, but if you could offer me advice on a short-term rental or the agency you used, I would really value your experience. Thank you.

I visited Santa Pola for a few hours in afternoon in Feb and decided like you that I liked the place. I have now met some lovely people. The locals are very friendly and helpful. 

I booked via booking .com which for long term would be expensive. I am only here for a month. Once here the owner extended my stay at a slightly reduced rate. 

A new found friend I’ve met says she uses local estate agencies to book rental.  I’m in centro/ puerto There are loads of estate agencies. I could ask her who she uses. 

The apartment I am in is well located and nice but it only gets winter sun for two hours in the morning and the apartment can be very cold. Cold apartments seem to be very common. I guess they’re geared up for hot weather not winter.Make  sure you ask about hours of sunshine in apartment in winter. I live in Scotland so I’m looking for winter sunshine  but having spoken to other visiting owners or renters I’m not sure now about Jan Feb weather  

The owners are lovely, live nearby and could not be more helpful.

Should have mentioned that a lot of people recommend hotel Patilla but at the moment it is room only. They are not doing food. 

Also if you want the email of my owners I could pm you but their apartment can be very cold. I bought a hot water bottle from Chinese shop😂

Thankyou so much for your reply. I hope you enjoy Torrevieja. I am actually in Santa Pola and am heading back home next week.  I’m also considerably older than you although back home I have a very nice young Ukrainian girl staying until she can save enough for her own place. I do I hope you meet some lovely young people.
