Hi,
We have a old style tv that is broken and we need picked up and disposed of. How do we go about arranging this? We have been told to call the council but with limited Spanish it’s difficult. Santa Pola (by the castle)

Dump it next to a bin, somebody (= north African) will pick it up on the off chance that it works after which disposal becomes their problem !

In our neighborhood they leave old TVs and other big things near the bins and the Maroccans always take them.

The phone number for free removal of household furniture and such is 96 669 3955. Phone them first and once you have their confirmation of pick-up leave it outside your home, flat entrance after 9pm. Do phone them first though and not the other way round. I have used this service in Santa Pola over and over again and was quite impressed. As some other posters have rightly said, if you leave it out, there is every chance that someone will pick it up. (Most of my furniture was gone before midnight or next morning). By phoning them you have the certainty that it no one else picks it up, it will definitely be removed by this service.

Dumping stuff by the bins is great if you are an unthoughtful, lazy person. Not so great for the neighbours of the bin and also illegal. What's wrong with finding out the proper way to do things. Even the Morrocans don't want some of the rubbish that morons leave!
