Where to report an incident

Yesterday my wife was involved in an accident during parasailing in Santa Pola, in which she was quite badly injured.

I consider the accident was possibly caused through negligence on the part of the operators.

Does anyone know of a Spanish organisation that this can be reported to for investigation, I am thinking of police, harbour authority, Chamber of Commerce, Health and Safety executive? If so please provide details.

Having spoken to the company today they said no authority would be interested as it happened on the water and maintained it is not in the jurisdiction of the police. Does anyone know if this is true? The company concerned has reported the accident to their insurance company.

I would appreciate any help.

Irrespective of what the operator or any other one might have said you should have brought the incident to the attention of the compentent "medico forense" and with his appraisal of the injuries filed a report to the state police.

You want to contact the Marítimo de la Guardia Civil (coastguard?). They operate out of Santa Pola harbour. The are responsible for the water, accidents, investigating, reporting etc. You will need a translator to make a report.

There are regulations and safety requirements for a parasailing flight. The Marítimo de la Guardia Civil should be aware of the requirements and make a report to the correct authority.

In general it is the operators responsibility to make sure it is safe to launch a parasailing flight.
