I purchased a property in 2022 and have just received a notification of nob resident tax for that year €111 also a solicitors fee of €122 which is more than my tax bill. Does anyone know if I need a solicitor to do this it seems a bit expensive. I own the property no one else it's just for me. I would be grateful for any help cheers.

Yes, it is expensive for the solicitor and no you don't need one. You can either do it yourself by completing the Form 210 or get a cheaper company, like Spanish Tax Forms, to do it for you at about 37 euro or so.

Loads of replies and discussions about the imputed tax on here.

Hi I can highly recommend Spanish Tax Forms.

They charge £34.95 per property not per person. Here’s the link

Note - Spanish Tax Forms charge £34.95 to complete the form and then an additional £12.00 to actually pay it for you so their all-in-fee is £46.95.

If you opt for the £34.95 service they email you the completed forms and then you have to present it for payment.

If you choose this option then you will have a completed form when it comes round to completing it the following tax year and there is no reason why you couldn't use the prior year as a template to then complete the following year as you would have had to provide all the detail necessary for them to complete it.

Edit - also, given you've received a bill for both the tax and the solicitor fee; are you sure the solicitor hasn't already submitted the return for you? You can ask them to stop going forward but it's possible you agreed to let them do this as part of whatever documents were signed while you were sorting everything out in respect of your house purchase etc. While not to do with non-resident tax,  I know on my IBI it still shows my solicitor as the address where the bill is sent even though I pay it via direct debit. I can probably update it but because I can simply download it through the website, I've never bothered to even try.
