Hi Lionheart
I would say the quickest and easiest way to get to Sax would be hire a car at the airport.
We visit our house in Sax every month for 5 or 6 days at a time and can get car hire through rentalcars.com who are good to use for comparison prices for all car hire desk in the arrivals hall for around £60.00 for 2 drivers on the policy. Do not take the insurance offered at time of booking wait until you get to the airport and take the insurance offered by each individual company as some companies do not recognise the rentalcars insurance and will ask you to either leave a block on your payment card or you end up paying twice for insurance and then have to try and get a refund from rentalcars.com
I have found both Gold cars and Firefly to be the best for prices and always take full to full fuel policy. Always return the car the same way you found it in terms of fuel on board. If the fuel tank is full return as such. If 3/4 full before you leave the airport call or go back to the desk and make them aware of this.
I always ask at the desk what the tank is sitting at in regards to fuel.
There is a bus station based underground at the airport as far as I know but don't know that much about it other than a bus apparantly leaves Alicante city every 2 hours, daily and takes around 2 hrs 30 minutes, please check as this may be have changed
Hopefully other members can enlight you on other modes of transport.
We are back on the 15th April for a week and have met other ex pats who stay in Sax and find the expat community very friendly and informative.
If we can be of any further help let us know

Hi John and Cat
Just been browsing through this forum and saw your post from a couple of years ago about going to Sax every month. We have a property in Sax and find the air fares quite expensive, so only go 3 or 4 times a year. What I wondered was, if there is a deal you can get with, say, Ryanair where you pay a certain amount upfront then you can travel when you like. I have heard of someone doing this but don’t know with which airlines. Just wondered if you knew anything about this. Many thanks.

Hello,
If you are looking for the cheapest way it will be by bus. There is a regular bus from the top floor of the airport ( to the right as you come out) that will take you Alicante and then you can get another up to Sax and Villena.
I have never done the trip so I don't know what it will cost, but busses are relatively cheap in Spain.
