My wife and I went to a large diy shed in elche  recently to purchase some materials for our new bathroom .

We realised that we needed a larger trolley so my wife came went to the car to collect a coin for the trolley,

My wife came back into the shop to inform me our Mercedes car was gone ,

I went outside to check with her but indeed our car had been stolen although locked with alarm fitted,

security checked the cctv cameras and this just showed the car being driven out the car park .

Luckily our insurance has loaned us a hire while a claim is processed

This has left us feeling insecure about who may be nearby ready to take what’s not there’s in any situation.

Modern cars are easier to steal than the cars of bygone days.

The newer Range Rovers are no longer possible to insure in some UK cities with insurance quotes in the 10’s of thousands now commonplace.

Progress? Really?

sorry to hear of your misfortune, hopefully things will sort out in time.

My a ten year old M.B. Disappeared from a place I would have thought safe with cameras etc

But unfortunately the cameras only caught the rear of the vehicle going out the car park with a thief on board.

I was very sad to hear this. It seems odd that the store was able to access video of the car being driven away but they didn't have video of the theft in progress, because most likely the thieves arrived in a second vehicle.

Can I ask, was the car LHD and was it keyless ignition? I wonder if the police have a system where the VIN number is shared with ITV stations nationally.

I must admit I feel a greater sense of confidence that my RHD is unlikely to be targeted in this way. No consolation to you I'm sure.

Kind regards, Steve

Hi,

I'm sorry to hear this news, Could I ask which store it was as I have a feeling it's one that I shop at on a regular basis.

Thanks

Gary

Hi

Thank you for the simpathec reply

The car  was left hand drive and with a key ignition

It certainly knocks your confidence about security

I agree they were most probably in a second car and obviously professional car thieves we understand that on average 82 cars are stolen each day in Spain and these are mainly Mercedes and BMW

Jensen a make which I was not be buying in future !

Kind regards

Richard
