Pool valve.
My pool has a multi way valve with positions on it for filter, backwash, recirculate, closed, etc. When I want to clean the filter basket next to the pump I turn the valve to closed then close the three red taps next to it. When I take the lid off the filter basket chamber, water continues to well out, more than the residue in the pipework. We once had a flood because of the difficulty in reseating the rubber seal and lid. There is no independent shut off tap to the multi way valve which I think is not fully closing and thus allowing water to continue to flow. Is there any other setting which will shut off the water? Would turning the setting to drain divert the water while I clean the filter basket? I can always refill the bit of water drained from the pool. I remember a guy replacing the seal with a new one and he moved the multi valve to succesfully stop the water but I cannot remember what he did. Any ideas anyone?
