Although I have nothing but sympathy for people unfortunate enough to have been cheated by others, I find it unfair to tarnish everyone in Spain. We have used both Spanish and English owned firms, for major renovation works, heating repairs etc etc. We have had nothing but excellent service, completed on time and efficiently, exactly to the presupuesto. The same applies to any legal dealings we have needed.

There are good and bad in all countries, and for those who seem to deeply dislike and mistrust anything and anybody here, why are you here still?

Hello

Oh well said Stephanie86, I ask myself that question everyday after reading   replies on here by some members.  It is continuous, covers every aspect of life in Spain and is quite boring  - If these people  moved,   it would deny them the opportunity to moan about everything ...which I think they actually  enjoy!

Cheers

Because you try to give the benefit of the doubt. They all talk a good game.  When you hire a legit business, you should feel safe and secure. I can tell you in Canada , a legit business would never pulls this crap. Blatantly steal from you the. Ignore you or legal requests.   I live Spain and have been here for many many years. Unfortunately it’s a country where between people and even government agencies you get ripped off. I try to neve have to have things done herr, but at times you do and you have 50/50 chance to be scammed or poor quality work done. Even Spanish people from other parts of Spain shake their heads at how work is conducted in this region.  It’s sad and gives people and country a bad name.    Either way. Scum bag thief’s should be posted so others are not also scammed.    Maybe they will stop if the $ stops.

Of course no one should have to accept poor quality service or blatant theft, and, yes, those perpetrating this should be held up to public scrutinize.

That with which I take issue is the immediate condemnation of every aspect of life here, which has not been my experience, nor that of friends and acquaintances. I reiterate, Spain is not a third world country and perhaps one should start treating its people and customs with respect.

This happens in every country I am afraid, and is no reason for condemning everything here.

We are still here because we have had to spend thousands getting our house registered because our corrupt solicitor was so busy taking hand shakes from the estate agents and others that they forgot to mention the building wasn't registered and you will have problems when you decide to sell...........thats why we are still here!
