That person google me and a review I left in Canada for a property purchase 3 years ago.     Bored people.  

You shouldn’t Tar every British person with the same standards as this criminal by your implication.

Well, I am in the same boat. Thought I’d found a reliable firm to do my renovation work but the plumber, electrician and builders used old-fashioned methods and were generally on holiday! A job which could have started in July 2020, started almost 3 months later and I am still in an unfinished house!!!

The next time I want to renovate a building I would bring a team of Italians to do the job. I lived in Italy for 40 years and found the Italian trades efficient, knowledgeable, hardworking. They are not cheap but get the work done and my mental health stays intact. I have yet to find somewhere here in my area, whether Spanish or British, who can do a job properly. 

I would love to find a plumber who turns up when he says he will and actually does the job! 

This company/man  I posted to warn about I had found on google.  Legit company. He was good for the first few jobs.  Arrived, and did the work(although not the finest finish) I was happy he was reliable which is the main thing in the Costa Blanca.  Then it become excuse after excuse. I give people benefit of the doubt and believe him and let the time go. Then he says he back and ready to work, get the job done no delay. Small 1 day job to collect and fit new door. He  was paid, then drop off earth again.  No reply, then again apologies and promised to get it done.  That was the end of him and my money and his replies. My lawyer called him after failed attempts from myself and he said … too bad, take me to court.     That is where I am now.  

I have heard / read and personally experienced your reform situation. It’s a common theme on costa Blanca ( any nationality builder). I had 3 companies over 6 months to do a reform of 50m2!  They all start good , get $ and paid their quotes… then poss the money away and demand more or just don’t return. I will never buy a property that needs reform here again.  It’s truly unfortunate the amount of scammers here in all fields.  Local and foreign worker.       Saying that when I find an honest worker which I have, they are good ( but it’s from my personal experience there is more bad than good, either on workmanship or standing behind their work).   We all have stories for days.  It’s unfortunate that’s why I posted on the forum about this local buisness who has decided it better to steal 300e than haves. Loyal customer with  units to repair for many years ongoing on Sax.      

Sounds like we had the same builders! My bilingual ‘builder’ was recommended to me by English friends, who got the recommendation from a well-known Brit estate agent. Who, by the way, actually laughed when I saw him recently about recommending him!!!

I have had water coming in from a reformed part of my property, damaging items stored there, and although they accepted responsibility, they started to put things right, then disappeared. Nothing new. As I mentioned before, trades here are totally under their wives’ control, get the shopping, attend to childcare, do the school run, etc. They do not have time to work, lol.

I swear I have been patient, tried to help the guy running the show, but I have come to the end of my tether. I am now having work done by British people who have shown themselves to be far more professional and capable than any locals. I just want the work finished before I kick the bucket!!!
